For holidaymakers to Ireland who prefer to 'do' rather than 'sit', airline baggage allowance barely covers the basics, let alone the tackle!
The answer has to be to load up the car with all those hobby essentials - fishing rods, golf clubs or surfboards - and to opt for a ferry crossing on one of Irish Ferries' modern fleet.
Prices in early July start from as little as £89 for a Pembroke/Rosslare crossing for a car and driver; add three passengers and the price is from £140. For the Holyhead/Dublin crossing on board the world's biggest car ferry, Ulysses, prices are from £99 for a car and driver or £150 when four travel.
Those opting for the Holyhead/Dublin route also have, for the first time this year, the option of a Club Class crossing at £10 per person, each way. This entitles them to priority boarding - first on and first off the vessel, use of an exclusive lounge with complimentary snacks, drinks and newspapers, bar for meals, plus selected discounts in the on-board shops.
