ENGINE ROOM FIRE ON BOARD FERRY “OSCAR WILDE” - LATEST POSITION

Following the engine room fire which took place on the Irish Ferries Ireland / France cruise ferry “Oscar Wilde” on the evening of Tuesday, 2nd February last (see separate press statements published earlier), the vessel remains in the A & P Shipyard, Falmouth where repairs are being undertaken.

In that regard, work is proceeding satisfactorily and it is hoped that all repairs, inspections and safety certifications will be completed and the vessel returned to service on its Ireland/France routes as quickly as possible.

As a result, all sailings up to and including 25th February 2010 are currently cancelled.  In addition no new bookings are being taken for sailings before 5th March 2010.  This situation is being reviewed on a daily basis.
 
The company is contacting all intending passengers and freight customers for whom alternative arrangements are being made.
