Modern Design

Austal Ships built the Jonathan Swift in Fremantle, Western Australia and are one of the world's leaders in fast ferry design and construction. They are located at www.austal.com.

Work began on the 8th of July 1998 and she was ready for launching on the 13th of February 1999. The Jonathan Swift left Australia on the 11th of April and began the longest journey of her life to reach Irish waters - 10,354 nautical miles.
