Spend the day in Cardiff Bay

Venture a little bit outside of the city centre and you’ll find yourself in the area known as Cardiff Bay, which as you may have guessed, gets its name for the large body of water it touches. Cardiff Bay is full of things to do such as golfing, boating, castle-exploring, and museum-hopping. There’s a massive barrage across the rivers Taff and Ely, creating a huge waterpark. The best and most fun way to see it all is on an inflatable rib, which will provide you with all the thrills you need and then some!

Take a drive down the Heritage Coast

When you’re ready to get out of the big city, head West out of Cardiff to the Vale of Glamorgan, a county rich with brilliant farmland and one of the least-visited coastlines in all of Wales. The Glamorgan Heritage Coast is wonderful for a breath of fresh air, as Cardiff has a tendency to feel a bit crowded. Even though the Heritage Coast only stretches for 14 miles, the varied stretches of massive cliffs, bays and beaches, and surf haunts make it feel like a little domain of its own. And if you get tired of driving, there are plenty of coastal paths and walking trails that will take you along the cliffs and waterline!

Hike through waterfall country

If you’re not too keen on getting wet, Sgwd yr Eira, or the “Falls of Snow,” offers a path behind the falls themself, offering a one-of-a-kind view of the rear of a waterfall.

Take a walk in Monmouthshire

Most of these castles date back to Norman times and are well-preserved vestiges of a time long passed.
