Limerick Competition T&Cs

By participating in this Promotion, you agree to the terms and conditions below, In these terms and conditions: “Promoter” means Irish Ferries Limited, in association with Sherry Communications, Ireland, and Four Agency, United Kingdom. Competition

  • The competition is a Limerick writing competition for children aged up to 15 years ("the Competition"), which will be judged within 2 age categories: 1) up to 9 years, and 2) 10 to 15 years.
  • What is required for entry: Submit a fun limerick poem, with the theme of “A Ferry Good Holiday”. It can be about any holiday – an imaginary one, a memory of one, or a future one. The theme is simply about ferry travel and holidays.

Eligibility

  • The competition is open to residents of Ireland, United Kingdom and France.
  • Entrants must be aged a maximum of 15 years on the Competition closing date of 31 October 2026.
  • All entries must be submitted with the consent of a parent, guardian, or teacher.
  • The competition is not open to employees or immediate family members of the Irish Continental Group, Irish Ferries, or their agents/agencies.

How to Enter

  • Entries can be submitted by any of the following means:
    • Onboard Irish Ferries ships using the competition entry form submitted to reception.
    • Online on the Irish Ferries mobile app – available to download here:

  • Submissions must include the entrant’s name, age, address, and confirmation of the parent/guardian consent to entry and acceptance of these terms and conditions, along with contact details for the consenting parent/guardian (email address and telephone number).
  • One entry per child.
  • Entries must be received by latest 23.59 31 October 2026. Late entries will not be considered.
  • No purchase or entry fee is required.

Competition Rules

  • Entries must be the original, unaided work of the child.
  • Entries must not have been previously published, broadcast, or won a prize in another competition.
  • The limerick must follow the AABBA rhyme scheme (lines 1, 2, and 5 rhyme; lines 3 and 4 rhyme).
  • The limerick must be on the theme of “My Ferry Favourite Trip” and include the words “Irish Ferries”.
  • Entries in the languages of English, Gaeilge and French will be considered.
  • Content must be suitable for an all-ages audience and must not contain foul, vulgar, or inappropriate language.
  • Entries cannot be returned—please keep a copy of your work.

Prizes

  • The prizes are as follows:
    • Monthly winners’ prizes of: €400 and £400 Irish Ferries travel voucher for the age categories 1) up to 9 years, and 2) 10 to 15 years awarded in Ireland/France and UK for each of the months of June, July, August and September, plus a Children’s Limerick book awarded to runners-up. i.e. a total monthly prize fund of €3,300 for Ireland/France and £3,300 for the UK.
    • Grand prizes at the end of October of:
      • Irish Ferries voucher for €2,000 or £2,000, of which up to €700 / £600 can be used on Irish Ferries holiday stays booked with holidays@irishferries.com and the balance for ferry travel.
      • 2 runner’s up prizes of Irish Ferries travel vouchers of €800 and/or £800.
  • The currency denomination of the prize will be determined by the country of residence of the entrant.
  • Monthly winners will be notified via email within 10 days of the end of the month. The Grand prize winner and runners-up will be notified by email by 20 November 2026.
  • Prizes are non-transferable and no cash alternatives will be provided.
  • Vouchers will be valid for travel up to 31 December 2027.

Intellectual Property & Privacy

  • By entering, parents/guardians grant the Promoter permission a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to publish the winning and runner-up entries on their website, mobile app, social media, in press-releases, or in print for promotional purposes.
  • Winners’ entries will be accredited to the name of the child, their age and country of residence, but no child’s full address, or sensitive personal data will be published.
  • No additional compensation will be provided.
  • Copyright of the work remains with the author (the child), but entry constitutes permission for the Promoter to use the work for up to 3 years.
  • All personal data collected will be used solely for the administration of this competition and will be destroyed within 12 months, in compliance with GDPR.

Judging

  • Entries will be judged on creativity, humour, rhyme, and adherence to the limerick form.
  • The Irish Ferries judging panel's decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the results.

General

  • Irish Ferries reserves the right to amend these terms or cancel the competition if necessary.
